Dani Gal

Dani Gal is an Israeli artist (b. 1975 in Jerusalem) based in Berlin. He studied at Avni Institute in Tel Aviv, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem followed by the Städelschule in Frankfurt and Cooper Union in New York. Using audio and video documents, Gal’s work addresses historical facts and highlights the way information is framed and meaning produced in documentaries. Ideologies, ethics and parti pris underpinning these productions are thus revealed. Gal has exhibited extensively: 54th Venice Biennale, Italy (2011), MUMOK, Vienna, Austria (2011), the Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland (2012) and the New Museum in New York (2012). His work has recently been included in the 12th Istanbul Biennale (2011) and in exhibitions at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Israel (2011), and the Zabludowicz Collection, London (2012).
