Eleanor Bauer is an American choreographer, dancer and performer based in Brussels, Belgium, where she is an artist in residence at Kaaitheater from 2013-2016. Bauer studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. Her pieces ELEANOR!, At Large, The Heather Lang Show by Eleanor Bauer and Vice Versa, and (BIG GIRLS DO BIG THINGS) have toured internationally to critical acclaim. She has just finished a trilogy of group pieces that started with the sextet A Dance for the Newest Age (the triangle piece) in 2011, followed by the nonet Tentative Assembly (the tent piece) in 2012, and a trio entitled Midday & Eternity (the time piece) in 2013. In 2013 Eleanor also launched an episodic talk-show-based performance series called BAUER HOUR, live monthly at Kaaistudios in Brussels and intermittently on tour elsewhere. As a performer, Bauer has worked for David Zambrano, Mette Ingvartsen, Trisha Brown, Xavier Le Roy, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker/Rosas, Boris Charmatz, and Matthew Barney, among others. Bauer's writing on dance has been published in New York's Movement Research Performance Journal, The Swedish Dance History volumes 1-4, Maska (Ljubjana), NDT by Contredanse (Brussels), Sarma, and everybodys, among others.
