Lina Viste Grønli

Lina Viste Grønli (b.1976, Bergen) lives and works in Cambridge, MA and Oslo, Norway. Grønli’s main artistic concern is with the materialization of language, often realized in her combinations of semiotic sculpture and collage techniques. She explores references from popular culture in her work, allowing for a complex relationship with the viewer in which no single meaning is preferred and the engagement itself produces new meanings and new references. Apart from her own exhibitions, Grønli has played a role at the heart of the Norwegian art scene through collaborative initiatives like Willy Wonka Inc, a traveling exhibition space. Grønli was educated at the Oslo National Academy of Fine Arts and Århus Art School in Denmark. She appeared in Perform 09 and has shown work at Christian Anderson (Copenhagen), Henie-Onstad Art Centre (Oslo), Wiels Contemporary Art Centre (Brussels), amongst other museums and galleries.
