Akademia Ruchu presents a visual retrospective of their work since 1974 through a range of images and films. The first period, 1974-88, reviews their actions in response to the political repression and censorship experienced from the totalitarian regime in Poland at the time. Akademia Ruchu created anonymous performances, installations purposefully interfering with the tedium of life in the city, and acts aimed at stimulating citizens and activating a sense of civil expression. The second period, from 1989 until the present, focuses on the shifting political atmosphere, and realities of democratization and political and economic transformation.
