Jill Magid Woman in Sombrero, Women in Sombrero

Art in General, 79 Walker Street

Woman In Sombrero by Jill Magid examines the legacy of Mexican architect Luis Barragán through an exhibition that comprises film and installation, as well as letters, photographs, invitations and other gestures. Relating both to Barragán’s personal archive in Mexico, and his professional archive - currently owned by the Barragán Foundation in Switzerland under the auspices of Vitra - Magid interrogates questions of cultural copyright and corporate power in relation to individual identity and legacy. For the performance Woman in Sombrero, Women in Sombrero, works from the professional archive will be presented and discussed.

Woman In Sombrero, Women in Sombrero is presented by Art in General. Exhibition curated by Anne Barlow, Art in General, 2 November – 21 December, 2013.
