Aki Sasamoto, Adam Wade & Tamar Ettun We Live With Animals
- Friday, November 15, 7:00 pm
An installation and performance event that explores the relationships between animals and humans in the urban realm. Twelve commemorative bronze plaques highlighting particular human/animal encounters in the five boroughs will be on display as artists and writers, including Aki Sasamoto, Adam Wade, Tamar Ettun and Pat Oleszko expand upon the idea of animals in the city through literal and fantastical storytelling. From a tiger found living in a Harlem apartment to a beautiful feral rooster in the Bronx – each story transforms our understanding of nature and our place in the animal kingdom, provoking new relationships with the animal world that shapes our urban realm. Plaques will be removed from the gallery and installed at commemorative sites around the city in a series of three tours.
We Live With Animals is presented by Van Alen Institute and co-curated by Denise Hoffman Brandt and Catherine Seavitt Nordenson.
